About the Engineer
ContactI'm a semi-retired avionics engineer who's been doing wood-working, metal-working (lathe, mill, TIG, etc..) for a long number of years. I have a few hobbies and model railroad is one of them. I don't do videos, but I will write about my projects. Later on I will provide some reviews of products that I try out.
I can also explain electronics (having EE experience) and help you wire up your layout and setup automation via micro-controllers.
Preferences
I am not an influencer or a paid endorser of any of these outlets. I am a customer who chooses carefully based on what happens when I try to find what I need.- I prefer Inter-Mountain Locomotives and
Micro-Trains rolling stock.
- Other suppliers I prefer:
- Roadbed, and other track-layout supplies: Midwest Model Railroad
- Some cars and some locomotives: Tony's Trains and TrainWorld
- Local retailer: Electric Train Shop (Burien, WA)
- Model shop: (not for model trains but for model making supplies - scenary, paint, glues, tools, etc..) Skyway Model Shop
- Local paint and art supply: BLICK
- I prefer railroads from the West coast and Northwest into Canada. Although I am interested in learning about
European railroads - locomotives, rolling-stock and the history.
- I prefer to count rivets until it becomes absurd.
- I prefer to prototype to the point where it's no longer feasible.
- I don't have any issue with making up things as I go along.
- I prefer to have fun with the hobby rather than be frustrated with trying to achieve perfection. But I would rather spend weeks painting a
scenery section than drop something in quickly so I can play trains. Being patient.
- IMRR: Steve Brown - It's My Railroad - aptly named channel from SB.
- DIY & Digital Railroad - Coffee drinker and modeler. Well organized presentation.
Lastly, for any new railroad modeller finding this site: Belive me -- if I can do it, you can do it. Just ask a lot of questions and experiment.
